Placement at The Bridge is determined through an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team process, in collaboration with families and district partners, to ensure the program is an appropriate match between student needs and the services and supports provided.
The Bridge uses a structured, relationship-based, and skill-focused learning environment. Students who benefit from this setting are able to access daily instruction, engage in guided social-emotional learning, practice new skills, and participate in supported reflection and problem-solving with individualized supports and accommodations.
*Please note that there are mature tree nut-bearing trees on our campus and near the entrance of our building. Exposure to nuts, shells, pollen, and other tree materials may occur throughout the year.
Core Beliefs
At The Bridge, we understand that our students carry experiences that shape how they feel, trust, and respond. We treat behavior as communication: an attempt to meet a need, manage a feeling, or stay safe. From this starting point, we look closely and teach deliberately. We study what a behavior is trying to accomplish, teach a more effective skill to meet that same need, and use reinforcement, structure, and data to make growth visible and repeatable. Our systems exist to build skills and widen each student's access to connection, success, and the good things of school life. Safety, belonging, and unconditional support are not earned and cannot be lost. A student having their hardest day is still fully a member of this community.
Because regulation comes before instruction, our first move in a hard moment is never a consequence, it is co-regulation. Students borrow our calm before they can find their own, so we attend to our own steadiness as carefully as we attend to theirs. We teach students to recognize their own warning signs and use a coping strategy early, before a small frustration grows into a crisis. The skills we model and prompt for them at first become skills they eventually use on their own.
